Mariners drop 2 of 3 on Thanksgiving road-trip

The Yarmouth Mariners couldn’t keep a strong start to their road trip going.

After a 2-1 win in Edmundston on Saturday night, the Mariners lost 7-3 in Grand Falls Sunday and 3-1 to Amherst on Thanksgiving Monday.

Keegan Warren put in two solid goaltending performances, making 51 saves in the win over the Blizzard and 34 saves against the Ramblers.

Back-up Noah Muise was in net for the loss against the Rapids.

In Saturday’s win, Justin Garneau scored the game winner in the third period, Ewan Cleary had the other goal.

On Sunday afternoon, the Mariners fell behind 7-0 before Jared Pitman, Liam Dutcher and Luke Foley added goals.

It was close one Monday, Amherst took a 2-0 lead before Cole MacLeod scored to make it 2-1 in the third, the Ramblers would score again a short time later to put the game out of reach.

Yarmouth how has a record of 4-6-1-0, they sit fifth place in the Eastlink South Division.

The Mariners host West Kent Friday night and Valley on Sunday afternoon.
