N.B. Green Party leader advocating for commuter rail in Halifax

By Jacob Moore Oct 7, 2025 | 5:23 PM

The leader of the New Brunswick Green Party is in Halifax on Tuesday.

David Coon is heading to Via Rail’s board of director’s meeting.

He plans to chat with the CEO as well as the head of the board about bringing more commmuter rail to New Brunswick.

He says Maritimers need an alternative to cars that is both cheaper and emits less carbon dioxide.

Although Via Rail has a train that runs from Halifax to Montreal three times a week, he says it does not do enough for New Brunswickers.
