Portage Atlantic recognized 28 young people during its annual graduation ceremony at the Cassidy Lake rehabilitation centre.

The event carried the theme “Change is.” Organizers said it reflects the personal, family and social changes the graduates have experienced on their path to sobriety.

Social Development Minister Cindy Miles attended as a guest speaker. She joined families, staff and community members in celebrating the achievements.

Portage Atlantic also highlighted its bursary program, which is supporting seven graduates as they continue their education.

“The bursary program helps build confidence and hope because it shows young people that someone believes in them and their future,” said Dave Ferguson, chair of Portage Atlantic.

Tambrie Hicks, director of Portage Atlantic, said the ceremony honours the graduates’ accomplishments and marks the start of new opportunities.

“Today, these young people are opening the door to new opportunities, brighter prospects, and the chance to become the best versions of themselves,” Hicks said in a statement.
