Unionized Princess Court workers ratify new deal

125 members of Unifor at the Princess Court long term care home in Dryden have voted in favour of a 2-and-a-half-year contract.

89 percent of Unifor 324 members ratified their contract with the Kenora District Homes for the Aged.

The deal was for a 2.75 wage increase in the first year, three percent in the second year and 1.25 percent for the half year.

There is also a 2.1 percent retroactive wage increase.

The deal is in effect from June 1 of this year to November 30 of 2027.

Other enhancements contained in the contract:

50 cent an hour increases in RN and RPN shift differentials with up to $.40/hour increase in all other shift differentials

$150 increase in eye glass coverage with $50 increase in eye exam coverage

$75 increase in annual paramedical health benefits

New $300 full-time and $200 part-time health spending account

$25 increase in both annual shoe allowance and uniform allowance

New $2/hour RPN premium

$1 increase in RN premium to $3/hour

$3 PSW premium rolled into wage schedule

All employees have paid lunches with improvements in lieu time, vacation entitlement, medical note fees and bereavement language.
