UNB’s McKenna Institute has unveiled a new, innovative learning program for K-12 students and communities.

The initiative is designed to reimagine non-instructional days as high-impact digital learning opportunities.

There will be a series of workshops and activities, with a focus on digital literacy and digital programming.

“New Brunswick has the talent, creativity, and determination to lead the country in digital education,” Frank McKenna, founder of the McKenna Institute, said in a news release.

“By working together, we can give our young people the skills and confidence they need to succeed in a world defined by innovation and set the standard for how communities embrace technology and prepare for the future.”

Officials said the initiative is made possible through a $500,000 gift from an anonymous donor.

The program is currently in initial development, with a phased rollout over the coming months.
