A northern Ontario MPP has been arrested.
Sault Ste. Marie’s Chris Scott was taken into custody in Toronto on Sunday, following an investigation by Sault Ste. Marie Police.
Police say to protect the privacy of the victims, details about the reasons for Scott’s arrest or charges are not being released.
The 35-year-old, who won election for the PCs in February, was removed from caucus Monday morning.
Premier Doug Ford, who was making an announcement in Russel, Ontario, offered no further information when asked about the MPP’s removal, saying he learned about Scott’s arrest prior to him arriving.
He also directed any further questioning to police.
