An investigation is underway into the alleged use of fake wrist bands for a popular annual event in Richmond County.

St. Peter’s Pirate Days organizers posted on Facebook that they are incredibly disappointed to learn that counterfeit Pirate Bash bracelets were being made and sold this year.

The non-profit says the celebration is extremely expensive to host with costs for security, entertainment, buses and more. They say it costs over $60,000 to put on the entire weekend.

They add that 2025 bracelet sales were significantly lower than usual, and they believe this issue played a major role.

Organizers say funds raised through bracelet sales are critical to help keep the rest of the weekend completely free for kids and families.

According to their post, they have reported this to RCMP and are already working on a more secure plan for next year.
