Fire crews are still holding the Long Lake group of wildfires at about 8468 hectares.

Saturday makers one month since the fire started burning in Annapolis County.

Officials have not received any new reports of damage to property, according to a social media post from the Department of Natural Resources.

There are still hotspots in the fire, and crews continue to work to put them all out. They are also taking down any dangerous trees and “action ash pits” around properties as firefighters work to push inward on the fire.

The forest is still dry, which makes it harder for firefighters, as the southern half of the wildfire is still burning “persistently and hot,” the post says. Aircraft are supporting ground crews by dropping water on those areas, but the fire is burning deep, which also adds to the difficulty.

On Saturday, eight helicopters, four planes, a bird dog, seven pieces of heavy equipment, and seven water tankers are on scene, as well as 47 DNR firefighters, 60 from Quebec, and support staff.
