A measles exposure at the QEII Halifax Infirmary.
Nova Scotia Health says there are now a total of 61 cases directly connected to cases announced in July and August.
They are mainly found in communities with close contacts, however, there has been a public exposure at the Infirmary:
- Emergency Department on Sunday, September 7, from 10:45 p.m. to Monday, September 9 at 1:20 a.m.
- Diagnostic Imaging (General Imaging and Ultrasound) on Monday, September 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Public Health says the risk to the public is low, with most protected from vaccination or previous infection.
Signs and symptoms can occur 7 to 21 days after exposure:
- fever
- cough, runny nose, red eyes
- small white spots may also show up inside the mouth and throat
- a red blotchy rash on the face, spreading down the body
