By Tim Davidson Sep 2, 2025 | 3:05 PM

Lots of change at the Kenora Catholic District School Board.

Teachers head back to school today and students return to class tomorrow.

Jamey Robertson is the Director of Education and says it’s a new year and a new role for him.

“It’s a new perspective and a new role for me in terms of transitioning from superintendent,” said Robertson in a recent interview.

“I’m incredibly excited to transition with a number of other staff who are shifting their roles. We have a new Superintendent of Education”.

Kylie Hughes is the new Superintendent of Education for the KCDSB this year, while Mark Richards takes over as the new principal at St. Thomas Aquinas School.

Robertson confirms they are ready for the new school year.

“Schools are open and ready. We’ve got staff that have been putting in countless hours, to make sure the classrooms are prepared, programs and resources are ready for a successful start this school year. Lots of new registrations and we’re excited to welcome new families to the area.”

Enrolment this fall is expected to be about 1,264 to start the year.

The KCDSB has five schools, including the St. John School in Red Lake.
