By Jacob Moore Sep 2, 2025 | 7:08 AM

Work has begun on a major housing project in Upper Hammonds Plains.

The feds are spending $61 million on the housing co-operative.

The government says the project focusses on preserving African Nova Scotian culture and heritage,

while creating 136 affordable homes, including 29 accessible units.

Workers broke ground during a ceremony on Saturday, and the feds say the homes should open by the spring of 2027.
