RCMP are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver of a car that crashed in Westphal over the weekend.

Early Saturday morning, a Pontiac Grand Prix travelling at high speed lost control on Lake Major Road.

The car struck a power pole, breaking it, then crashed into a parked dump truck before hitting another pole and catching fire.

The driver, who was the only person in the car, ran into nearby woods before police arrived. A search by the Halifax Regional Police Canine Unit was unsuccessful.

RCMP are asking for anyone who may have dashcam video of the incident or other information that could help identify the driver.

Tips can be shared with RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment at 902-490-5020, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS.
