A 23-year-old man from Kitchener is facing charges after police say he was caught driving at 198 kilometres an hour in a 90 zone near Dryden.
Ontario Provincial Police say the traffic stop happened August 8 on Highway 17 near Meadows Road. The recorded speed was more than double the posted limit.
The driver is charged with stunt driving and dangerous operation. His vehicle has been impounded for 14 days, and his driver’s licence suspended for 30 days.
Police say driving at such extreme speeds puts everyone at risk — including the driver, passengers, and other road users. Ontario’s stunt driving laws carry severe penalties for a reason, and officers say this case is a reminder that speeding isn’t just dangerous, it can be criminal.
