A full house at the Wanderers Grounds helped kick off the International Summer Series in Halifax, with 7,244 fans filling the stadium for an exhibition match between the Halifax Wanderers and Wrexham A.F.C.’s under-21 team.
The match marked a rare international appearance on home turf for Halifax and brought additional attention thanks to Wrexham’s global profile — the Welsh club rose to fame after being purchased by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and featured in the hit documentary series Welcome to Wrexham.
The game followed closely on the heels of a new attendance record for the Wanderers, with 7,049 fans attending their most recent Canadian Premier League home match. This latest sellout surpasses that number and shows continued momentum for professional soccer in Halifax.
The Wanderers’ International Summer Series continues with additional matches in Charlottetown and Saint John, as Wrexham’s U21 squad continues its Canadian tour.
Tickets for those events are still available, but organizers say Halifax’s response has set a high bar for support and atmosphere.
