A sudden death over the Christmas holidays at a tent site in Dartmouth has been ruled a homicide.

Police say it was at the Geary Street encampment on December 22, 2024, when officers responded to a man who was assaulted by a woman.

Paramedics responded but the 56-year-old  man did not accept help.

He was identified as Jeffery Alexander Emmerson.

The autopsy ruled the assault as a homicide.

The woman involved is described as white, 20-25 year old, 4’10, medium build with shoulder length dark hair wearing a blue jacket and red sweatpants.

If you have information you are asked call police.
