The risk of severe thunderstorms across a wide swath of New Brunswick has passed.

The remaining severe thunderstorm watch, which was issued early Tuesday afternoon, came to an end around 8:45 p.m.

Environment Canada issued the watch for much of southern and eastern New Brunswick, including:

  • Fundy National Park
  • Fredericton and southern York County
  • Grand Lake and Queens County
  • Kent County
  • Kouchibouguac National Park
  • Moncton and southeast New Brunswick
  • Miramichi and area
  • Oromocto and Sunbury County
  • Stanley – Doaktown – Blackville area
  • Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County

The weather agency said conditions were favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms.

Those storms may have been capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
