4x Stanley Cup Champion - Jamie Kompon - Outside the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame - (CJ Goater/Acadia Broadcasting)
A member of the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame and assistant coach of the Florida Panthers has secured his fourth Stanley Cup.
Jamie Kompon is a Stanley Cup Champion for the second year in a row.
The Panthers beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6 of the finals, extending the Canadian Stanley Cup drought.
The last time a Canadian team won the Stanley Cup was 1993.
Florida also became the first team since the 2021 Lightning to repeat as champions.
Kompon, who was born in Nipigon and raised in Thunder Bay, previously won the cup in 2012 with the Los Angeles King, in 2013 with the Chicago Blackhawks, and in 2024 with the Florida Panthers, serving as an assistant coach on all of the teams.
He visited northwestern Ontario with the Stanley Cup for the first time after the 2024 win.
