Organizers are expecting this year’s Fort Frances Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony to be another sell-out.
Tickets to the August 9th event at the La Place Rendez-Vous are now available at Rainy Lake Sports.
More than half have already been pre-sold to the inductees and their families.
The inductees included three athletes, one builder and two high school sports teams.
The athletes include Gary Beck, who led the St. Scholastica Saints to two NAIA national hockey championships in the 1970s; Erin (McIvor) Howe, who was a captain with York University women’s hockey team; and the late Elov Seger, a first-team All American defenseman on the 1961 – 62 Michigan Tech NCAA national hockey championship team.
The 1977 – 78 Fort Frances Muskies boys basketball NWOSSA championship team and the 1989 Muskies boys hockey team, which won the provincial high school championship, will also enter the hall.
Rick Wiedenhoeft, a long-time high school football and volleyball official and former coach and athletic director at Fort Frances High School, is the lone builder to be recognized.
