Chippewa Park is set to fully open for the season.
The park is always open, but some seasonal features are set to begin operation for the season.
The tourist camp is opening on Friday, and rides and concessions are opening on Saturday.
“Chippewa Park is back in operation for its 104th year,” said the Secretary of The Friends of Chippewa Park, lain Angus. “So far, (there) are a total of 38 outdoor event days booked and 11 days where the pavilion is booked, and there are approximately 700 children taking part in the various summer camps operated by Recreation and Culture.”
According to Thunder Bay’s Aquatics Program Supervisor, Calli Graham, daily lifeguard service at Chippewa’s Sandy Beach will start on June 28, from 11:30 AM to 6:30 PM.
She added that Friends of Chippewa Park have helped support the development of three change rooms that are now available at the beach.
The Sundays in the Park concert series is returning starting June 29.
The free outdoor concerts held on the north side of the pavilion will run from 2:00 to 4:00 pm through August 31.
