Update: Services resume at VG site after propane leak in Halifax

Services have resumed at a hospital in Halifax after reports of a gas leak in the area.

Friday around 9 A.M., Halifax Regional Police advised of a street closure due to a gas leak in the South End.

According to their post on X, officers are assisting Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency with a propane leak on Queen Street.

Queen Street, from Morris Street to Victoria Road is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Fenwick Street is also closed.

Police ask the public to avoid the area and take alternate routes to avoid delays.

Around 9:30 A.M. Nova Scotia Health advised people to avoid the QEII’s Victoria General site due to the leak.

In a release at 10:45 A.M. the health authority says patients, visitors and staff may now safely return to the VG.

Police have not provided an update as of 11 A.M.
