A wildfire in Richmond County is under control.

It began began around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday near Three Rivers Road in Framboise, growing to around 15 hectares in size, according to the province’s Department of Natural Resources.

About 17 provincial firefighters have been on the scene with local departments and three roads were shut down.

Municipal warden Lois Landry said, “Please be mindful of those instructions from provincial and municipal emergency measures. It’s important the firefighters can do what they need to do safely.”

Firefighters were assisted by rain Friday morning.

One abandoned structure was destroyed. Landry adds there aren’t a lot of homes in the area.

According to 511 as of 9 p.m. Friday, the following roads have reopened:

  • Three Rivers Road
  • Stirling Road
  • North Framboise Road

Crews continue to monitor and address hotspots and flare-ups.
