Three people have now been charged with first-degree murder after a fatal Saint John shooting.

A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old youth appeared in court on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man made his first court appearance on Thursday.

All three have been remanded into custody and will appear before a judge again next week.

A call came in to police about shots fired in the area of Carmarthen Street and King Street East around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers found the body of a 20-year-old man inside a vehicle. His name has not been released, but next of kin have been notified.

Three suspects were seen leaving the area on foot headed down Carmarthen Street toward Union Street, according to police.

Police posted a shelter-in-place advisory on social media around 20 minutes later and issued an emergency alert around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday. Several nearby schools were also placed on lockdown.

The alert was cancelled around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday after officers arrested one of the suspects and determined the shooting was an isolated incident.
