A historic attraction in Thunder Bay is ready to open for the season.

Residents can head down to visit Fort William Historical Park starting on Saturday.

The site includes the Fort William Historic Site, campgrounds, a restaurant, and a gift shop.

Residents can enjoy the historic site through scheduled guided tours from opening day through June 30.

From July 2 through September 1, visitors can explore the site on their own or with a tour.

Daily activities are scheduled, including paddling a canoe, learning about Anishinaabe tools and technologies, firing a musket, visiting the farm, sampling fresh-baked bread, and more.

“Fort William Historical Park offers an incredible opportunity to explore the breathtaking beauty of Northern Ontario while learning about our shared heritage,” said the Minister of Tourism, Culture and GamingStan Cho. “This year’s planned events deliver a blend of fun, family-friendly activities while providing exciting opportunities to learn first-hand about Indigenous traditions and culture. There’s no better time to visit Thunder Bay and experience a critical period in Canadian history that helped shape our nation.”
