Thunder Bay is running two leaf and yard waste collections this spring.
The first is taking place between May 13 and 23, and the second between June 10 and 20, on residents’ regular recycling days.
“We’re offering two spring collections to give residents more flexibility and convenience,” said the Manager of Solid Waste and Recycling Services, Jason Sherband. “We’re pleased to expand this service. Having two collection dates means more opportunity for residents to tackle yard work on their own schedule, and deal with their leaf and yard waste easily.”
Only kraft paper bags will be accepted for disposing yard waste.
Bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores.
Each filled bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs.).
Residents may also leave branches and brush at the curb for collection.
Bundles of branches must be less than one metre (39 inches) long and 61 cm (24 inches) in diameter, tied with twine.
There is no limit on the number of bags and bundles for leaf and yard waste collection.
Residents must place the waste at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on their regular recycling days.
Grass clippings are not accepted during yard waste collection.
