No change planned for water levels on Rainy/Namakan Lakes

The International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board’s Water Levels Committee is keeping April’s target for lake levels on Rainy and Namakan Lakes in place for the month of May.

Rainy Lake will remain between the 35% to 65% band of its rule curve.

Namakan Lake will stay between the 40% to 65% band of its rule curve.

The targets were first announced in March and continued into April.

The region received about 25 millimetres of rain last week.

The Board says it is not enough to impact current lakes.

The lakes have remained within the middle of their target range since the middle of January.

The International Rainy-Lake of the Woods Watershed Board is to provide a further update on lake levels during a virtual meeting on Thursday.
