One person was sent to a local hospital following an evening water rescue on Lake Superior.
Fire Rescue was sent to the Fisherman’s Wharf area around 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving a report about a person stuck in the lake.
According to the reports, there was also another person already in the water trying to rescue the individual.
When crews got on scene, the person attempting to rescue the individual in the water was back on shore.
Firefighters were able to see the person from shore, and a rescue boat was launched.
The individual was removed from the water, which the Platoon Chief described as icy, and was returned to shore where EMS was standing by.
The patient was transported to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center for further assessment of their injuries.
Thunder Bay residents are being reminded to be very cautious around waterways.
High moving spring runoff is extremely dangerous, particularly due to the recent rainfall amounts received throughout the region.
