Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Trucks - (CJ Goater/Acadia Broadcasting)

One person was sent to a local hospital following a detached garage fire on Broadway Avenue.

Firefighters were sent to a home in response to reports of a fire just before midnight on Thursday.

When they got on scene, they found a vehicle on fire in the garage.

They were able to attack the flames from outside before removing the vehicle from the garage and extinguishing the fire.

The fire caused significant damage to the back of the garage, while the rest of the garage suffered minor smoke and water damage.

Fire Rescue is reminding residents to never re-enter a burning building once they have evacuated.
