Update: Woman seriously injured after hit by car in marked Halifax crosswalk

A 77-year-old woman has what are believed to be serious injuries after being hit by a car while in a marked crosswalk in Halifax.

Police say it happened around 8 a.m., Thursday morning, in the area of Larry Uteck Blvd and Kearney Lake Road.

The northbound lane of Larry Uteck Blvd was closed from Amesbury Gate to Kearney Lake Road as a result.

The woman was taken to hospital.

A summary offence ticket was issued to the 52-year-old driver for not yielding to a pedestrian.

It carries a fine of $697.50.
