Richmond County launches new alert system

By Kelli Rickard Apr 3, 2025 | 12:28 PM

Richmond County has launched a new alert system to help keep people in the know during emergencies and operational changes.

According to the county’s website, “In times of crisis, it is important that residents have access to trusted, timely, and accurate information to ensure their safety and that of their families and loved ones.”

The county says in response to that need, it has chosen Voyent Alert! It’s a free communication service which will be used to send alerts to residents, businesses, and visitors during critical events like fires or floods. It will also notify them about day-to-day matters like planned maintenance and water advisories.

There are four ways to receive the alerts: SMS text, voice-to-landline, email and the mobile app.
