For nearly two years, scaffolding has been hurting business at a local wine bar in Halifax.

But now the city is looking at how they might be able to help.

Mayor Andy Fillmore says he’s asked city staff to look into the case because he does not want the bar to miss another crucial patio season.

“I’m optimistic that with some creative thinking here on the part of the municipal staff, we can precipitate action to get the building repaired and the scaffolding off of the building,” said Fillmore.

However, Fillmore says it’s a complicated situation.

The building owners are facing financial trouble after the head of the Caryi Group died in 2023.
