Halifax firefighters responded to another fire at the abandoned St. Patrick’s-Alexandra School on Sunday morning, according to the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters Association.

Fire officials said on a social media post that this marks the second blaze at the site within a week.

Crews arrived at 11:20 a.m. Sunday and found two separate fires on the third floor.

They acted quickly to put out the flames before they could spread. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Halifax Professional Fire Fighters Association also stated that earlier in the week, firefighters were called to another fire at the site on Wednesday.

That fire caused heavy smoke throughout the derelict building but was brought under control swiftly.

Before Sunday’s fire, inspections of the building identified safety hazards, including high fire loads, signs of fire setting, and evidence of occupancy.

Officials say abandoned buildings like this pose serious dangers to public safety and increase risks for responding firefighters
