Thunder Bay’s police are warning the public about a new scam making its way around the city.

They’ve received reports that residents have been receiving aggressive messages trying to extort money.

The sender claims to be the boss of an escort service, and they threaten to harm the recipient and members of their family unless they provide payment.

If you receive these kinds of messages, you should disregard them and not respond.

You should not provide any form of payment.

City police are urging family members and friends to speak to those who may be vulnerable to being targeted by this type of scam.
