New Brunswick’s Electric Vehicle Incentive Program will officially end on July 1.

Residents can still qualify for rebates if they purchase an eligible EV by June 30, according to a government release.

Applications can be submitted to NB Power within 30 days of purchase to claim the rebate.

NB Power administers the program, supporting New Brunswickers in their transition to electric vehicles.

The program has put nearly 7,000 electric vehicles on New Brunswick roads since its launch, according to provincial data.

It also helped the government exceed its climate change action plan target of EVs making up six percent of new light-duty vehicle sales by 2025.

Finance and Treasury Board Minister René Legacy announced that the province will now focus on expanding EV charging infrastructure to alleviate concerns such as range anxiety and support further adoption.

Legacy added that more details on charging station infrastructure will be released later down the road.
