A donation from Tbaytel is supporting youth recovery from substance use.
The organization is providing funds to support the Rec-covery Recreation and Wellness Group at the Sister Margaret Smith Centre.
The program supports youths aged 16-21 to rebuild healthy lifestyle habits to help recovery and overall wellbeing.
“Empowering our youth and supporting these essential programs helps make our community stronger – together,” said Tbaytel Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Communications, Amy Meunier. “We are looking forward to seeing the lasting and positive impact this program will have.”
The funding is being used to purchase winter gear to help the youth stay active during the colder months.
With the equipment, the program will now be able to offer snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and winter hiking.
“Recovery thrives through connection,” said President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Care Group, Janine Black. “We have been able to purchase essential outdoor equipment so that youth in recovery can grow their connection with the land and each other while learning healthy coping skills that nurture and sustain healing.”
Sister Margaret Smith Centre is part of St. Joseph’s Care Group’s Lillie Street campus, which includes Sister Leila Greco Apartments and Hogarth Riverview Manor.
