The province is supporting victims of gender-based violence.
They’re giving nearly $3 million over the next three years to support two projects led by YWCA Halifax.
The ‘Safer Spaces’ program offers round-the-clock support to those fleeing human trafficking situations.
And there’s money for the ‘December 6’ fund, which provides loans up to $500 for women and gender-diverse people leaving domestic violence situations.
Minister for the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women Leah Martin says it helps with safe housing and compassionate care.
Martin adds that gender-based violence has a devastating impact on victims and their families.
