Fire crews have contained a fire in a portable classroom at a Clayton Park high school.
Firefighters say they got the call just after 11 a.m. on Thursday. When first-responders arrived on scene, they found an active fire in a single room.
Crews upgraded the response to a structure fire and requested a second alarm.
But because of a “quick and coordinated response,” firefighters contained the fire to a single room in the portable, and the second alarm was not necessary, according to a social media post from the union.
“This incident is an important reminder of why we treat every alarm like the real thing. Fire alarm systems are in place for a reason—and they save property and lives,” read a post from the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters.
The union did not say if anyone was injured throughout the incident.
