Police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect after a fake bomb was left in the Grand Parade park in downtown Halifax.
There was a heavy police presence in the area Wednesday morning around 10 a.m.
But by 11:30 a.m., officers determined it was a “hoax improved explosive device” and was designed to come across as threatening, according to a social media post from police.
Nearby streets were closed and offices were evacuated while police investigated, but they determined the package did not pose a risk to the public.
Investigators obtained video evidence from the area and determined the suspect is a white man with a dark beard, who was wearing a large navy puffer coat with a fur hood, a navy hat and navy pants.
The Halifax Regional Police ask anyone who knows the man to contact police at 902-490-5020.
The investigation continues.
