The construction of a new cardiovascular surgery program is underway at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

The hospital’s main entrance doors are closed and will remain closed until Sunday to accommodate the work.

During the closure, patients accessing the Cancer Centre can do so through the West Entrance doors.

All other patients, families, and staff can access the hospital through the Renal Entrance, which is adjacent to the main entrance.

A map of hospital entrances can be found here.

Parking is also being impacted.

The Bear (B1) parking lot is closed for the whole construction process.

The hospital says you can use the Moose (B2) and Eagle (A1) visitor parking lots as alternative options.

Coyote (C2), Squirrel (C1) and Deer (D) lots are designated for patients accessing the Emergency Department and Labour and Delivery.

Other areas of the Hospital are not accessible through these entrances.

Parking in any of the visitor lots is free for the first 15 minutes.

“When drop off / pick up zones are congested, parking in Moose (B2) provides a great option while waiting,” said the TBRHSC in a release.

A map of parking at the hospital can be found here.

Ongoing parking adjustments are expected as construction advances.
