Provincial Liberals name shadow cabinet

By Randy Thoms Mar 21, 2025 | 6:05 PM

Liberal Members of Provincial Parliament have been given their responsibilities by leader Bonnie Crombie.

Crombie assigned multiple portfolios to her 14-member caucus.

Veteran MPP John Fraser will serve as Leader in the Legislature as Crombie was unsuccessful in her bid for a seat in February’s provincial election.

Stephanie Bowman will act as Deputy leader.

Without elected members from northern Ontario, Crombie has turned to newly-elected Toronto area MPP Stephanie Smyth to serve as critic of northern affairs.

Former leadership candidate Ted Hsu (SHOE) takes on the energy, agriculture, rural affairs, natural resources, mining and forestry portfolios.

“As the People’s Opposition, we are committed to representing the large percentage of Liberal voters at Queen’s Park,” says Crombie in a statement.

“We were sent here to hold Doug and his inner circle to account. They can’t keep spending at historic levels with nothing to show for it but a crumbling healthcare system and scandals. It’s time for an economically resilient Ontario.”

The new session at Queen’s Park begins on April 14th.

Here is the list of Liberal MPPs and their roles with the party.
