A hockey player from Lunenburg has won a big award.
Ryan Hopkins was named the Maritime Junior Hockey League defenseman of the year.
The 20-year-old played for the Fredericton Red Wings this season, he scored 16 goals and added 15 assists in 42 games played.
He led the MHL in goals by blueliners, and even scored twice in the shootout.
He logged a team-high of 28 minutes and nine seconds of ice-time per game.
