Thunder Bay’s new electronic transit card is now live.

Although the program officially launches later this month residents are being encouraged to sign up for a Lift Pass early.

Passengers can load a day pass, 10-ride multipass, or monthly pass.

The card can be tapped on the farebox to ride the bus.

Lift Pass allows passengers to purchase their transit fare online as well as in person.

All current forms of bus fares will still be accepted.

Passengers who would like to purchase a Lift Pass can do so by visiting the Thunder Bay Transit’s office at 570 Fort William Road during regular business hours, Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Additional locations to purchase Lift Pass cards will be announced in the coming weeks.

Passengers who purchase a reduced fare card, such as a youth, senior or discount monthly pass will need to show proof of ID to get their card.

Children 12 years of age and under will continue to ride for free but will require a Lift Pass to ride Thunder Bay Transit.

There is a $5.00 fee to purchase a new reloadable Lift Pass card.

This fee is being waived until April 30, 2025.
