The victim of the homicide in the Fairview area of Halifax has been identified.

Police say 38-year-old Uriah Lemar Black was found shot and unconscious on the sidewalk, early Thursday morning.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the autopsy, the death has been ruled a homicide and not a random event.

The investigation is ongoing, and police ask that anyone who may have video from the area throughout the night, or information about the incident, call 902-490-5020.
