A boil water order has been issued for Kings Court in St. Stephen, which includes the town’s elementary school.
The order follows a watermain break Tuesday that left homes and businesses in the area without water for several hours.
“Due to a water main break the municipal water on Kings Court in Municipal District of St. Stephen may be unsafe to drink and could cause serious illness,” the municipality said through its notification system.
All water destined for consumption should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute. That includes all water for cooking, drinking, food preparation, juice and drink mix preparation, making ice, washing fruits and vegetables or brushing teeth.
“This alert will remain in effect until the issue is resolved but is expected to end no sooner than Friday, January 24,” said the municipality.
The watermain break forced St. Stephen Elementary School to send students home early for the day on Tuesday.
