A search of the McIntosh Residential School grounds near Vermilion Bay has uncovered 114 more possible grave sites.
A release says 106 of the sites are located in the cemetary area, and eight were found elsewhere on the former school grounds.
Many of the graves in the cemetery belonged to children, though others were adults from the Grassy Narrows First Nation.
Ground penetrating radar was used and discovered sites, and it matched the shape and size associated with graves.
Indigenous Affairs minister Greg Rickford says the findings play a vital role in the journey towards meaningful reconciliation.
He adds that it’s critical we learn the truth of what happened at this school and support the healing journey of survivors.
