A GoFundMe for Isaac Downey, who was shot and killed in Dartmouth early Sunday morning, has nearly reached its goal.

The fund, organized by Janet Wehrens, has raised $8,770 of the $11,000 goal, as if 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The page says Downey left behind his partner, Marcedes Patey, and their twin daughters, “who were his entire world.”

“This unimaginable loss has left Marcedes and their family heartbroken as they try to navigate life without him. During this time of grief, we want to ensure that Marcedes and the girls have the space to mourn and heal without the added burden of financial stress,” the page reads.

The fund will go towards day-to-day expenses, childcare and other things, it says.

Halifax police responded to a report of multiple gunshots fired on Lahey Road and Clarence Street in Dartmouth just before 3 a.m. on Sunday.

A 30-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were taken to hospital, and the man later died.

Police say they believe the woman did not have life-threatening injuries.

On Monday, police say the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the shooting a homicide.

The investigation continues.
