The acting CEO and General Manager of Halifax Water has now taken on the role permanently.

Kenda MacKenzie was selected out of more than 95 applicants from across the country after already having been in the position for one year.

In a news release from the utility, she says she is honoured to accept the position and is excited to work with the team, making Halifax Water an “employer of choice”.

“By empowering our people, we can improve our customer’s experience and create a more sustainable organization that can efficiently and effectively adapt to the future.”

Halifax Water says she has been part of the company since 2008 and brings in-depth knowledge and experience as a professional engineer to the table when collaborating with the municipality, the development community and other partners.

“The Board is confident that Kenda is the ideal person to lead Halifax Water into the future and ensure that it remains focused on customers’ needs. Throughout her career, she has developed a deep knowledge of Halifax Water’s operations and infrastructure planning. Kenda is most qualified to guide the organization, find opportunities for growth and innovation, and ensure the continued provision of high-quality water services to the people of HALIFAX,” says Colleen Rollings, Chair of the Halifax Water Board of Commissioners.

MacKenzie takes on the new role, effective immediately.
