Three new inductees into the Atlantic Canada Marine Industries Hall of Fame.
It happened during a ceremony at the Eastern Canadian Fisheries Exposition in Yarmouth Friday.
Founder and owner of Aqua Productions Systems Philip Nickerson was inducted as a builder.
The company has transformed live lobster storage and handling.
“It’s quite an honour, and it’s an industry that’s near and dear to my heart. The work that we do is helpful to build all the rural communities that are dependent on this industry,” said Nickerson.
The late Bernardin Comeau of Comeau’s Seafoods was inducted as a processor, and fishing captain Andrew Titus went in as a mariner.
West Nova MP Chris d’Entremont says companies like Comeau’s Seafoods do a lot for communities.
“They give a lot to the Clare area, and the fishing industry as a whole in Nova Scotia. The Titus’ and Nickerson’s as well, it’s important that we recognize them,” said d’Entremont.
The ceremony was part of the expo that brought thousands of people in the marine industry together over two days at Mariners Centre.
