NAPS concerned about increase in cyberbullying

The Nishnawbe Aski Police say they are alarmed by the increase in cyberbullying.

The Indigenous police service has noticed a recent spike and has issued a public safety advisory.

Police say it’s extemely alarming because of the known links between cyberbullying and youth suicide.

Suicide rates are already six times higher for First Nations youth and in remote and far north communities, the suicide rate is believed to be 11 times higher.

NAPS say complaints of cyberbullying are taken seriously and a being thoroughly investigated.
