The Women and Children’s Health Unit will be the focus of this year’s ‘WE CARE Radiothon.’

The fundraiser for the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation will donate proceeds toward the purchase of two incubators, a birthing bed and infant scales.

The foundation’s Mary Surette says the infant incubators are 18 years old.

“That’s one of the things that we’re looking forward to this year, to replace that equipment because it’s near its end of life usage,” said Surette.

Surette says each incubator costs around $46,000, a birthing bed is $35,000, they also want to get five scales.

The total cost for all equipment is about $164,000.

“Every cent we raise will go toward this equipment. Whether we get one incubator or two, or all equipment, it’s a win-win for our community.”

The ‘WE CARE Radiothon’ will air March 6 on Y95, broadcasting live from the Yarmouth Mall.
