Major crimes investigating suspicious fire and death in valley

By News Jan 11, 2025 | 6:21 PM

The Southwest Nova RCMP Major Crimes unit is investigating after one person died in a house fire in the valley.

RCMP say it was around 3 a.m., Saturday, when fire crews responded to a report of a structure fire on Anthony Avenue in Centreville.

The house was engulfed in flames, but crews were able to put the fire out.

As officials were investigating, one person was found dead inside the home.

From evidence gathered, it is believed both the death, and the fire, are suspicious.

RCMP ask if anyone has any information to call police at 902-679-5555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
